hello dear followers on Substack,
These are probably the last words I will write here on Substack. For a couple of years, I have struggled to find the right platform for my writing besides my journalistic work for Gonzo (circus). First, I started a blog on Medium next to FRNKFRT, the magazine I ran with Peter Bruyn. Then, I moved to Ghost.io. I don’t mind paying to use an independent platform built upon the open-source community. I loved it, but there were too many technical limitations, and using Ghost is expensive. So, I exchanged Ghost for Substack.
Substack is cheaper, has more features, and fosters a community of writers like Medium. Still, I find it hard to develop a weekly or bi-weekly format. I miss writing when I want and what I want. Small posts, larger essays, reviews, remarks, curated stuff, you name it.
While researching contemporary internet culture, I learned that more creative people are leaving social media platforms and even returning to blogging on their own websites. That got me excited. I returned to my old STASIS blog on my Studio Hyperspace website and felt the urge to start blogging there again.
After a good night’s sleep, I decided it was time to return to my roots. The death of big media platforms has been predicted for some time, and I strongly believe in what is currently referred to as the ‘indie web’.
From now on, I will write about pop culture on stasis.studiohyperspace.net irregularly.
My writing about design and more theoretical stuff (speculative accelerationism) can be found on sx.studiohyperspace.net.
You can subscribe to the website's RSS feed or follow me on Instagram, where I regularly post updates.
Thank you for being here with me. It means a lot to me. Although it sometimes feels as if I write about the things I love and find interesting to the thoughts out of my head, it feels reassuring that others are interested in these writings. I also miss the interaction that was so common on the internet in the 1990s and the first decade of this century.
I hope we can build meaningful connections again.
Stay safe.
